For example, Kate Middleton - Duchess of Cambridge wore Princess Diana's Lover's Knot Tiara many times at white tie and state affairs.

And although state events allowed such magnificence and grandeur, the Duchess was advised that it might not be in good taste to do so.  Precisely what occurred in Fiji and Tonga.

Prince Charles advised Duchess Meghan against wearing it as it might appear "too extravagant".
